Here's an example: Imagine your teenager takes the car, and the oil light illuminates on the dash. They do not tell you because they do not want to pay for the oil change. They keep driving, and weeks later, another warning light comes on, and then another. Next thing you know, you are paying for a full engine rebuild because your teenager did not want to pay for a $50 oil change. It is the same situation with our legislatures. They look the other way for political expediency, and we end up paying more. I promise to always change the oil so we do not have to pay for a full engine rebuild.
